Installing on macOS
===================

This download holds the plugin in three formats, and the standalone app,
for Macs with Apple silicon and with Intel (macOS 11 or later). Install
any of them:

Audio Unit Move "Oroboro Modular.component" into
              ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components (Logic, GarageBand,
and other hosts of Audio Units)

  VST3 Move "Oroboro Modular.vst3" into ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3

CLAP Move "Oroboro Modular.clap" into ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/CLAP

App "Oroboro Modular.app" plays without a DAW: move it into
Applications and open it. It plays through the system's
output; pick another output and the MIDI input in its
              Settings, under Audio & MIDI.

(~/Library is the Library folder in your home folder: in the Finder, Go >
Go to Folder..., then type the path.)

After installing the plugin, let your DAW rescan its plugins. Logic and
GarageBand find a new Audio Unit when they start.

This download isn't notarized by Apple yet, so the first time, macOS won't
open it (it says Apple could not verify it). Let it through once:

App Open it, and close the message. Then open System Settings >
Privacy & Security, scroll down to Security, click Open
Anyway beside "Oroboro Modular", and confirm. From then on
it opens as any app does. (On macOS 11 and 12: System
              Preferences > Security & Privacy > General.)

Plugin After moving it into place, run this once in Terminal (in
Applications > Utilities), then let your DAW rescan:

  xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/*/"Oroboro Modular".*

The same command lets the app through too, given the app's place:

  xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Oroboro Modular.app"

Without a license the plugin runs as a demo: it plays every patch, but
editing and saving patches wait for a license. To activate it, click
DEMO MODE · ACTIVATE at the top right of the plugin window, then sign in to
oroboro.space, or Import License File... and choose the .license file from
your account.
