Publishing in the Community Library
The Community Library is where musicians publish patches and modules for Oroboro Modular, and download what others publish. These are the rules for what goes in.
What you may publish
Publish only what you made yourself, or have the right to publish: patches, Composite modules, Faust modules, native modules, the wavetables they play and pictures of them. When you publish, you confirm that you have that right.
Don't publish:
- anyone else's work without their permission, including sounds and wavetables from commercial libraries;
- anything unlawful, hateful or offensive, anything meant to harm the people who download it, or advertising.
Licences
Everything published comes with the licence its author picks, and whoever downloads it may use it under that licence:
- CC BY 4.0 (the default): use it, change it and share it, even commercially, naming its author;
- CC BY-SA 4.0: the same, and what you make from it is shared under the same licence;
- CC0 1.0: no conditions at all;
- for modules only, the GNU GPL 3.0 (or later, or version 3 only): use it, change it and share it, even commercially, with its source, and what you make from it is shared under the same licence;
- for modules only, MIT: use it, change it and share it, even commercially, keeping its copyright and licence notice with it;
- for modules only, Free to use: download it and play it in Oroboro Modular, in any music you make, at no cost. Don't pass it on, sell it, change it or take it apart: share its link in the Community Library instead. Its author keeps every other right.
A module made from someone else's GPL code may be published only under the GPL, and only as that code's licence allows. A native module under the GPL links to its source code: keep the link working, with the source of every version you publish, for as long as the module is in the library.
Music you make with what you download is yours. Once something has been downloaded, its author may change its licence only to a more open one: whoever has a version keeps the terms they got it under.
Your name
What you publish is shown under the artist name of your account, which you set on your account page. Your email address is never shown, and the library never receives it.
Versions and removal
You can publish new versions, take a version back from new downloads, and take an item out of the listings. An item stays reachable by its link, since others' patches may need it. Moderators may hide or remove anything that breaks these rules, and may stop an account from publishing. We may also remove items for other reasons, for example to keep the library working.
Takedowns
If something in the library is yours and was published without your permission, or breaks these rules in another way, write to contact@oroboro.space with a link to the item and what's wrong. Something reported as someone else's work is hidden at once while we look into it.
When we act on what you publish
If a moderator hides or removes something you published, or stops your account from publishing, we email you what was done and why. If you think it's wrong, reply to that email within six months, and someone who didn't make the decision will look at it again.
Compiled modules
Compiled modules run as programs on the computers of the musicians who download them, so only developers we've approved may publish them. We sign each build, so Oroboro Modular knows who made it and that it hasn't changed since. Signing isn't a review: we don't guarantee that a compiled module is safe or that it works.
No guarantees
What's published in the library is its authors' work, offered as it is, without warranty. We check that it plays in Oroboro Modular, not what it sounds like. Download and use it at your own risk.

The Community Library is new, and these terms may change as it grows. What you've published keeps the licence you gave it.
